Civics - What does it mean?

  • Usually when we learn civics in Social Studies, we are learning how our government works, how the different branches are structured and what their purposes are.
  • We learn that as citizens we have both the right and the responsibility to take part in all levels of civic life.
  • These are some basic questions that we learn when we study Civics:
    • What is a citizen?
    • Why do we need laws?
    • Who is in charge?
    • How do other governments differ?
