Getting Started
This is always the hardest part, actually getting started. The following are questions and suggestions that may help you figure out where to start:
-
Is there an issue that bothers you?
-
Is there a group or a cause you have discussed in school, or with your parents, that you want to focus on?
-
If you don't know of one already, make a list of things that you might like to help with, or make better. For instance, maybe there is a local park you go to that needs to be cleaned up, or that needs new equipment. Perhaps school violence is bothering you, or you are concerned about pollution or other issues.
-
After your list is complete, think about it for a few days and then narrow it down.
-
Look in your local area, and in the “use your voice” section of this site for some opportunities that might fit your interests.
